HPCT will hold auditions for THE TROUPE 2020 on Saturday, August 24, beginning at 9:00 AM at Centennial Station (121 S. Centennial Street, High Point).
The Troupe is HPCT’s award-winning Junior Theatre Festival competition team. Admission is based upon a vocal and dance audition, as well as written recommendations.
~What is the Junior Theatre Festival (JTF)?~
The Junior Theater Festival is a spectacular annual national event that is all about bringing students together to celebrate the joy of musical theater! This will be HPCT's third year participating in JTF Atlanta. In 2018, the Troupe received a Festival award for Excellence in Music, as well as Best Male Actor. One of our Troupe members, Jackson Barnes, was also selected to travel to NYC and to film for (2) of the MTI Junior choreography DVDS! In 2019, Troupe members Jack Sargeant and Lauren Redding were finalists for the choreography DVDs. Awards and recognition are nice, but the rewards of participating in the Troupe and JTF go way beyond trophies.
The 2020 Festival dates are January 17-20 in Atlanta, GA. HPCT will be performing a 15-minute version of “Seussical JR".
~HPCT’s The Troupe 2020~
The Troupe is dedicated to providing participants a loving, yet professional, environment for the intermediate to advanced youth performer to grow. Our expectations are high, but those expectations are only topped by our desire to create a supportive and family-like atmosphere for everyone involved.
HPCT’s The Troupe is directed and music directed by Courtney Lowe and choreographed by Kristi Post.
We will take 20-25 students in grades 5-12 (2019-20 school year) to JTF 2020 in Atlanta. Rehearsals will primarily be Fridays 7:00-9:30 PM and/or Sundays 6:00-8:30 PM, with the occasional Saturday from 1:00-4:00 PM. Rehearsals will begin August 25 and run through January 15.
Those admitted into The Troupe 2020 will be required to pay $750 to cover the cost of Festival participation. This fee covers all registration fees for the 2020 Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta; lodging during The Festival (Jan. 17-20, 2020); transportation to and from The Festival; (1) group dinner at the Festival; a Troupe t-shirt; a Troupe hoodie; a Troupe cinch bag and a supply of The Troupe trading bracelets (a favorite pastime at JTF 🙂). Payments will be divided into (5) payments of $150.
There will be a number of organized fundraising opportunities this fall for families to offset the cost of participation. With dedication, it is very possible for each participant to raise enough money to cover most or all of their fees.
Auditions for The Troupe will take place Saturday, August 24 at Centennial Station (121 S. Centennial Street, High Point). Sign-in will begin at 9:00 AM.
For auditions, please be prepared to sing 60 to 90 seconds of a musical theater song that highlights your vocal ability, as well as shows off your personality. An accompanist will be provided. Bring a resume and a completed audition form (listing all known conflicts from 8/25/19-1/20/20). A tentative rehearsal schedule and the audition form will be available at www.hpct.net by August 10. This letter can come from a past production team member (director, music director, choreographer) or arts instructor (drama teacher, music instructor or dance instructor).
