All roles available (ages 8+). Please prepare 60-90 seconds of a song in the style of the show. Bring sheet music in the proper key; an accompanist will be provided. CD will be accepted, but not preferred. A capella auditions are strongly discouraged.
Please have comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear for a dance audition.
If you are unable to attend auditions, a video audition is acceptable, but not preferred. Send videos, completed audition form and a completed conflict calendar to hpct.info@gmail.com with "Big Fish Audition" in the subject line. Video auditions must be received NO LATER than 12:00pm on August 4.

About the Show:
Big Fish centers on charismatic Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest … and then some! Edward's incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son, Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales and the man behind the myth as Edward approaches the final chapter of his life. Overflowing with heart, humor and spectacular stagecraft, we look forward to bringing you an extraordinary new musical direct from Broadway that reminds us why we love going to the theatre – for an experience that's richer, funnier and BIGGER than life itself.
Character descriptions:
Edward Bloom – is a charming, charismatic storyteller. He is a loving husband and father who leads a complex imaginary life with many fantasy friends. It is a tour de force which demands strong acting, great vocal chops, a huge heart, a great sense of humor, and a vivid imagination. (bari-tenor, G2 to G4).
Will Bloom – Edward’s son – is a realist and a pragmatist; and the polar opposite of Edward. His journey of reconciliation with his father is the story of the musical. (tenor, C3 to G4)
Sandra Bloom – Edward’s wife – is a loving wife who completely understands her husband and who seeks and believes in the possibility of reconciliation between her husband and son. (mezzo or soprano with mix/belt, G3 to E5)
Josephine Bloom – Will’s wife – is a lovely young woman who provides balance for Will’s pragmatism. With Sandra, she supports and helps guide Will’s journey toward reconciliation with his father. (mix/belt to C#5)
Karl – a Giant – is one of Edward’s fantasy friends. Requires a relatively tall actor who is is comfortable walking with painters stilts. Through Edward’s friendship, he grows from being a ‘beastly’ outcast to a highly successful businessman. (bass, A2 to D4)
Jenny Hill – the Other Woman – is one of Edward’s early childhood friends who he forgets but then who later becomes the recipient of his kindness. (mix/belt to E5)
Amos Callaway – a Werewolf -- is another of Edward’s fantasy friends. Masquerading as a ringmaster of a brokendown circus, he begins as Edward’s tormentor – but then, through Edward’s acceptance, he accepts himself and becomes highly successful. (baritone, C3 to F5, touches a G5)
The Witch – a Witch – is the earliest and most fantastic of Edward’s ‘imaginary’ acquaintances who shows him how he’ll die. (mezzo with high belt, useable F3 to F5)
Young Will - The young version of Will is intrigued by his father's stories, but already starts to doubt their truth. With his father always on the road, he feels he is the man of the house. (F4 to C5)
Don Price – Edward Bloom’s life-long nemesis/frenemy. Don is Sandra’s first fiancé and a snarky hot-headed bully. (baritone, C3 to F#4)
Zacky Price - Don’s younger brother. Zacky is somewhat nerdy and easily-spooked, a shadow of the older brother he idolizes. (tenor, C3 to F#4)
Dr. Bennett – Edward’s physician – is the experienced and wise country doctor.
Alabama Lambs - 2 Dancers. Perform with Sandra at the circus. MUST have strong singing and dancing skills.
Men (ages 14 & up): Strong movers and singers for a range of characters, including townsfolk, salesmen, USO dancers, cowboys, circus performers, witches, etc. Wide variety of types. Ensemble is used HEAVILY in this show and is an integral part of the story.
