TROUPE 2022 SCHEDULE

What is the Junior Theatre Festival (JTF)?

The Junior Theater Festival is a spectacular annual national event that is all about bringing students together to celebrate the joy of musical theater! This will be HPCT's fourth year participating in JTF Atlanta. In 2018, the Troupe received a Festival award for Excellence in Music, as well as Best Male Actor. One of our Troupe members, Jackson Barnes, was also selected to travel to NYC and to film for (2) of the MTI Junior choreography DVDs! Awards and recognition are nice, but the rewards of participating in the Troupe and JTF go way beyond trophies.

The 2022 Festival dates are January 13-17 in Atlanta, GA. HPCT will be performing a 15-minute version of “Frozen JR".

HPCT’s The Troupe 2022

The Troupe is dedicated to providing participants a loving, yet professional, environment for the intermediate to advanced youth performer to grow. Students will receive 5 months of intensive training in multiple performing arts disciplines. Our expectations are high, but those expectations are only topped by our desire to create a supportive and family-like atmosphere for everyone involved.

HPCT’s The Troupe is directed and music directed by Courtney Lowe and choreographed by Kristi Post.

We will take 17-20 students in grades 6-12 (2021-22 school year) to JTF 2022 in Atlanta. Rehearsals will primarily be Fridays 7:00-9:30 PM and/or Sundays 6:00-8:30 PM, with the occasional Saturday from 1:00-4:00 PM. Rehearsals will begin with a mandatory parent/performer meeting on August 15 and run through January 11. The first several weeks of rehearsal will be devoted to ensemble work and enhancing the group's general performance skills. Casting decisions for our 2022 Adjudication piece, Frozen JR, will be made in September.

Those admitted into The Troupe 2022 will be required to pay $798 to cover the cost of Festival participation. This fee covers 5 months of performance skills training; registration fees for the 2022 Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta; lodging during The Festival (Jan. 13-17, 2020); transportation to and from The Festival; a Troupe t-shirt; a Troupe hoodie; a Troupe cinch bag and a supply of The Troupe trading bracelets (a favorite pastime at JTF ). Payments will be divided into (6) payments of $133 with the first payment being due on August 15.

There will be a number of organized fundraising opportunities this fall for families to offset the cost of participation. With dedication, it is very possible for each participant to raise enough money to cover most or all of their fees.
