For twelve years, A Christmas Carol: The Musical has been more than just a holiday production, it has become a beloved tradition, bringing generations of performers, families, and audiences together to celebrate a story filled with hope, transformation, generosity, and joy.
As the 2026 production team, each of us comes to this show with a deep love for it and a long history with this very special production. We understand what it has meant to so many people over the years, and we are committed to honoring and preserving the traditions that have made it so special while adding our own unique brand of magic as we begin its next chapter.
And we cannot wait to share that chapter with you.
Whether you have appeared in A Christmas Carol many times before or have never stepped onto this stage, we hope you’ll audition. Whether you are an experienced performer or someone who has always wondered what it might be like to be part of a musical, there is a place for you here.
Come audition on your own. Bring your family. Grab a group of friends and do it together. Some of the very best memories from this production have been made by people who chose to spend the holiday season creating something special alongside people they love—and by people who walked into auditions as strangers and left the production with a whole new theatre family.
We are incredibly excited to welcome familiar faces, meet new ones, and begin building the company that will bring the 12th Annual A Christmas Carol: The Musical to life.

Please prepare a 30 to 45-second, memorized musical selection in the style of the show. An accompanist will be available so please provide your own sheet music in the correct key. Acapella auditions are strongly discouraged.
There will be a general dance audition so please have comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear (you should prepare the provided dance combination(s) in advance of your audition). If you tap, please bring tap shoes (any gender). There is also a contemporary combination for featured dancers (any gender).

PRINCIPAL ADULT ROLES
EBENEZER SCROOGE
Vocal Range: A3–G5
An older man whose great wealth has gradually hardened his heart. Scrooge has shut himself off from generosity, friendship, family, and compassion, believing money and self-reliance matter more than human connection.
Over the course of one extraordinary Christmas Eve, he is forced to revisit the boy and young man he once was, confront the suffering around him, and see the future awaiting him if he refuses to change.
This is a demanding leading role requiring tremendous emotional range. Scrooge must move convincingly from angry, sarcastic, intimidating, and miserly to fearful, vulnerable, wistful, devastated, hopeful, and ultimately almost boyishly delighted.
GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT / SANDWICH BOARD MAN
Vocal Range: A3–G5
A joyful, larger-than-life showman who introduces Scrooge to the realities of the present—both the tremendous joy and the heartbreaking need surrounding him.
Christmas Present is warm, funny, theatrical, charismatic, and full of life. The role has a strong vaudeville flavor and should feel like a performer who knows exactly how to command an audience.
The same performer also appears as the Sandwich Board Man.
GHOST OF CHRISTMAS FUTURE / BLIND OLD HAG
Vocal Range: C4–F5
The most frightening of Scrooge’s supernatural visitors.
Christmas Future silently reveals what lies ahead if Scrooge refuses to change his ways. The role relies heavily on physical storytelling, movement, and commanding stage presence.
The same performer also appears as the Blind Old Hag.
JACOB MARLEY
Vocal Range: B2–A♭4
Scrooge’s deceased former business partner, who returns from the grave to warn him about the consequences of a selfish life.
In life, Marley helped Scrooge build their fortune. In death, he is condemned to carry the chains created by his greed and indifference.
Marley should ride a wonderful line between genuinely frightening and darkly hilarious.
BOB CRATCHIT
Vocal Range: G♯2–E4
Scrooge’s overworked and underpaid clerk.
Bob is devoted to his family and especially protective of his youngest son, Tiny Tim. Despite financial hardship and Scrooge’s constant mistreatment, he refuses to allow bitterness to define him.
Gentle, compassionate, optimistic, and deeply loving, Bob represents much of the goodness Scrooge has lost.
MRS. CRATCHIT
Vocal Range: G♯3–E5
Bob Cratchit’s loving wife and the heart of the Cratchit household.
She is resourceful, hopeful, generous, protective, and deeply devoted to her family. While Bob tries to see the best in everyone, Mrs. Cratchit has far less patience for Scrooge’s cruelty.

GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST / LAMPLIGHTER
Youth Performer – Boy or Girl | Vocal Range: E♭4–G♯5
A warm, twinkling apparition who guides Scrooge through the defining moments of his past.
Christmas Past is puckish, playful, whimsical, compassionate, and wise beyond their years. Although initially lighthearted and magical, the Spirit gradually leads Scrooge into increasingly painful memories.
The same performer also appears as the Lamplighter.
TINY TIM
Vocal Range: B♭3–D5
The youngest son of Bob and Mrs. Cratchit.
Tiny Tim lives with significant physical challenges but is defined by his kindness, optimism, generosity, and love for his family.
He is, in many ways, the embodiment of the Christmas spirit Scrooge must rediscover.

SCROOGE AT 18
Vocal Range: B2–G4
Young Ebenezer before greed has fully taken hold.
He is happy, sociable, ambitious, and deeply in love with Emily. Having experienced poverty as a child, he is determined to save money and build a secure future.
At this point in his life, he has found a second family with the Fezziwigs and still possesses the warmth and joy we struggle to see in the older Scrooge. The seeds of his future obsession with money, however, are already beginning to grow.
EMILY
Vocal Range: B3–B♭5
Young Scrooge’s great love.
Emily is warm, intelligent, generous, and deeply in love with him. She values the simple things in life—family, friendship, love, and the happiness that comes from sharing a life with someone.
As Scrooge becomes increasingly obsessed with financial success, Emily realizes that the man she loves is disappearing.
MR. FEZZIWIG
Vocal Range: B2–B4
Scrooge’s former employer and one of the happiest influences in his younger life.
Fezziwig is generous, affectionate, jovial, and larger than life. He believes business and kindness can coexist and treats his employees like family.
Later, when his own fortunes decline and he asks his former protégé for help, Scrooge turns him away.
MRS. FEZZIWIG
Vocal Range: A3–A♭5
Mr. Fezziwig’s cheerful, spirited, and slightly sassy wife.
She is every bit her husband’s equal when it comes to warmth, generosity, humor, and throwing a wonderful party.
Later, after the Fezziwigs experience financial hardship, she cannot understand why the young man they once treated like family refuses to help them.
FRED ANDERSON
Vocal Range: A2–F4
Scrooge’s nephew and one of his only remaining family connections.
Fred is warm, compassionate, funny, optimistic, and persistent. Even though Scrooge continually rejects him, Fred refuses to give up on his uncle.
In many ways, Fred represents the man Scrooge might have remained if he had chosen family and love over money.
SALLY ANDERSON
Vocal Range: C4–E♭5
Fred’s wife.
Sally is warm and welcoming but has considerably less patience than Fred for the way Scrooge treats his family.
Although frustrated by Scrooge, she ultimately welcomes him into their home when he finally chooses to reconnect.
YOUNG MARLEY
Vocal Range: D3–F♯4
Scrooge’s closest friend and eventual business partner.
He is almost like a brother to Scrooge. Together, the two young men build their business and gradually allow financial success to become their primary focus.
Marley’s later death becomes another major turning point in Scrooge’s emotional life.
MR. SMYTHE
Vocal Range: D♭3–F♯4
A recently widowed father struggling financially while raising his daughter, Grace.
He comes to Scrooge hoping for understanding and additional time to pay his debt. His situation immediately demonstrates the cruelty of the man Scrooge has become.
MRS. MOPS
Scrooge’s housekeeper.
She is sassy, practical, outspoken, and thoroughly tired of Scrooge’s unpleasant behavior.
FEATURED YOUTH & TEEN ROLES
GRACE SMYTHE
Vocal Range: D♭4–F♯5
Mr. Smythe’s daughter.
Her mother has recently died, and her family is experiencing financial hardship. Despite that loss, Grace retains sweetness, hope, and innocence.
She introduces one of the primary musical themes of the show.
JONATHAN
Vocal Range: E♭4–E♭5
A high-energy London street urchin who delights in annoying Scrooge with his singing, dancing, and relentless personality.
Funny, fearless, mischievous, and energetic.
SCROOGE AT 12
Vocal Range: F♯3–A4
A poor young Ebenezer working in a boot factory.
Lonely, exhausted, and desperate to escape poverty, he vows that one day he will save enough money to make a fortune and never experience financial insecurity again.
He deeply misses his family and longs for a place to truly call home.
FAN SCROOGE AT 10
Vocal Range: A4–E5
Ebenezer’s beloved younger sister.
Although she and her brother have been separated, they share a deep bond and desperately miss one another.
Fan represents some of Scrooge’s happiest memories of family, love, and belonging.
MARTHA CRATCHIT
One of the older Cratchit children.
Martha is responsible, affectionate, and deeply connected to her family. She participates in both the joyful Cratchit Christmas scenes and the heartbreaking glimpse of the family’s possible future.
SCROOGE AT 8
The youngest version of Ebenezer seen in the story.
He watches helplessly as his father is sentenced to jail—one of the experiences that shapes his lifelong fear of poverty.
YOUNG FAN SCROOGE
The youngest version of Scrooge’s sister.
Sweet, affectionate, and deeply attached to her older brother.
ACOLYTES
The Acolytes are featured throughout the Past sequence. These roles require strong stage presence, expressive movement, and the ability to help shape the atmosphere of Scrooge’s journey.

An employee of the Royal Exchange and a colorful part of Scrooge’s business world.
The performer also appears during the past sequence as a creditor.
OLD JOE

A rag picker and unscrupulous dealer who profits from possessions taken from the dead.
Old Joe appears during Scrooge’s frightening glimpse of the future and brings a deliciously dark comic energy to the sequence.

Well-to-do gentlemen & ladies collecting money to help London’s poor at Christmas.

A favorite Triad holiday tradition returns with High Point Community Theatre’s musical version of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale. Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others.
Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated "Bah! Humbug!" Scrooge summates his feelings about Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he's forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present, & Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful "Happy Christmas" before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those who mean the most to him.
This is a spectacular adaptation of Charles Dickens' most well-known story that had a decade-long run at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden. The show has featured well-known actors such as Terrence Mann, Roddy McDowall, Frank Langella, Tim Curry, Roger Daltrey, Emily Skinner, Christopher Sieber, Didi Conn, Ben Vereen, and more. It was made into a movie starring Kelsey Grammer, Jesse L. Martin, Jane Krakowski, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Jason Alexander. You will love it!
